If you have only shot your rifle at ranges up to 600 yards, you might like to try your hand at Long Range. Our BPCR's are easily capable of good accuracy at distances up to 1000 yards and more.
The Club has a 900 and 1000 yard Long Range meeting in the first week of most months, see Shooting Calendar for details; our members who shoot Long Range regularly are very happy to help with sight settings and wind reading. We also hold our annual Bisley Billy Dixon Competition at 1000 yards which is challenging but enjoyable match.
These shoots, held on Stickledown range, have a more relaxed feel than our 20 rounds in 30 minutes shorter range competitions. The day comprises 900 yards in the morning and 1000 in the afternoon; generally three-man details with no specific time limit on firing point, other than what it takes to fire the standard Long range format of 2 formal ranging shots + 3 convertible sighters +15 rounds to score, shot to International Rules for both distances. Any spare range time can obviously be taken up with fun/load developement etc, shooting. There is no formal competition as such. From past experience there will not be formal squadding at beginning of the year, however, if weight of entries demands it, then it will be introduced as needed.
Should you wish to take part in any Long Range Shoot do remember to give plenty of notice of wanting to take part, to assist in booking the lanes and markers. Note: unless advised otherwise it will be "pay on the day" to make financial matters simpler...bring the correct money please !
